Glass has fascinated me since I was a young child when I watched a lampworker melting solid glass over a hot flame. It turned to a liquid and then turned back to a solid, and this enthralled me. It was the beginnings of a life-long love.
My glass journey began in the early 1980s when I undertook a Leadlighting course. From these beginnings I made leadlight windows for a house I was building. As my skills developed, I found leadlighting very limiting but taking the next step to warm glass was expensive. It was another twenty years before I bought my first kiln and jumped into the world of warm glass.
Glass can be functional, but also sculptural and it is in sculptural form using glass powder and fritt that I enjoy the most.
